WAYNESBORO, Pa. (WHTM) -

Monday morning was a dangerous one in Quincy Township. Firefighters arrived on the 9400 block of Masters Road to find a house fully engulfed in flames with its walls collapsing.

The home owners are separated and neither had been staying at the home, but arrived on the scene to find everything destroyed.

Gloria Caufman said she lost things that cannot be replaced.

"My family antiques, things I was going to give my grandchildren for heirlooms," she said.

Jerry Caufman is also mourning the loss of family photographs and old train sets.

"It was just devastating, I was in shock," he said, "It just went through me, I felt a very unwarming situation."

State police investigators said the incident is not to be taken lightly. Trooper Jeff Sarver said the fire was very destructive and was dangerous for first responders.

"There was a lot of factors involved that could have gotten a lot of people seriously injured," he said.

Sarver and other investigators, including a state police arson dog, spent several hours at the home Wednesday, searching for evidence to help them determine how the fire was started.

"We brought the dog in to run him through the scene to see if he would alert to any ignitable liquids inside the structure," Sarver said.

Sarver said the dog did alert investigators, who collected evidence that will be analyzed in a lab.
