Journalist arrested in computer hacking probe

Police arrested a journalist on Wednesday on suspicion of computer hacking as part of their wider investigation into alleged breaches of privacy.

The 28-year-old man was being questioned at a north London police station about the identification of a previously anonymous blogger in 2009, London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Media reports named the man as Patrick Foster, a former reporter at The Times newspaper.

It is understood his arrest relates to the unmasking by the newspaper of a policeman who blogged under the name Nightjack.

He is the 11th person to be arrested under Operation Tuleta, a police probe into alleged computer hacking and privacy breaches running alongside inquiries into the phone-hacking scandal at Rupert Murdoch's now-defunct News of the World tabloid.

Officers from Operation Tuleta arrested the man at his home in north London at around 7:00 am (0600 GMT), the statement said.
